Gift ideas

Cash or gift cards are still perfectly fine gifts, but I know some of you are wanting to buy an actual present. So, for those of you who are getting ready to hit the stores in search of a gift, I thought it'd be nice to be able to point you in the direction of something that she has said specifically that she's in need of.

They are going to be needing electrical plug adapters for foreign countries. If you choose to fulfill this need, please keep in mind that they will need more than one thing plugged in at a time, so more than one adapter would be nice. Travel pillows! Maybe those U shaped neck pillows?

A recent revelation she had: "I can read books that aren't text books!" Arabian Nights, Great Expectations, The Great Gatsby, 1984, A Farewell To Arms, For Whom The Bell Tolls, The Sun Also Rises, A Tale of Two Cities, Uncle Tom's Cabin, Moby Dick, The Grapes of Wrath, Of Mice and Men, Gulliver's Travels, The Glass Menagerie, Edgar Allen Poe Mysteries, Les Miserables, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Hamlet, King Lear, Romeo and Juliet, The Iliad, The Odyssey, and much much more. Think about American classics. Things that we read in school, or that your kids read in school. Rachel didn't get enough of that, and Stephen didn't either. They are on a hunt these days for all those great classics. I gave Stephen a copy of To Kill A Mockingbird for Christmas, and apparently, that was a hit. Keep in mind that Rachel has some serious allergies, so she can't be around old dusty books much. New copies would be much appreciated, or used copies in clean condition.

Girl things, not candles, nail care kit (good nail clippers, nail file, and the like), NATURAL make up remover, unscented moisturizers for sensitive skin, heel care kit (maybe something with a pummace stone). Rachel is a simple girl when it comes to products. Her skin is sensitive and does not do well with scented products or anything that will dry out her skin. She uses Bare Minerals and Mac makeup products and really does well with those two brands.

Socks. Just that. Socks. Toe socks, colored socks, fuzzy socks, short socks, long socks, any pair of socks you can find. I don't always understand this girl, I've just learned to accept her for who she is. :) She wears something like a size 9 or 10 or 11 shoe, so use your best judgement when buying socks as far as sizing goes.

I hope this helps someone!

RSVP's needed!

A great big thank you to those of you who have taken the time to RSVP already! It's incredibly helpful to know how many guests to expect. For those of you who have yet to find the time in your busy schedules to get that done, I just wanted to let you know how much I would appreciate you letting me know, either way, if we can expect you. I'm looking at deadlines for ordering everything, and having a close to accurate head count would help out a lot. Thanks!

The invitation

So, for those of you who have either received an email or other message from Rachel inviting you, or for those who have lost their hard copy of the invitation, here is the invite, in picture form. The address is blacked out for obvious reasons. If you need the address, please feel free to ask one of us or just leave a comment here with your name and email or phone number and someone will get back to you.

Rachel's Getting Married

Hopefully though, it won't be nearly as boring as the movie. :)

So, I'm creating this blog page for a rather obvious reason: My little sister, Rachel, is getting married. This is going to be a place for me, and probably other people involved in the wedding, to give out information to all of you out there who need that information. In turn, it will be a great place for you to ask your questions. (Where are they registered? Wait, they're not registered? What do we do now?). If you're looking for the page with all the information on the wedding it's self, that would be over at this location: http://web.me.com/stephen.emery/Wedding/Invitation.html

First up, is going to be the bridal shower. I am in charge of this particular task and will be hosting it at Elaine Price's house in Gresham. By week's end, I hope that the entire invite list as well as everyone's addresses will be in my posession and I will be busy addressing envelopes. Which means, I have to have the date nailed down before that happens. But no worries, because by the time anyone's reading this, it will all be figured out.

Ok, so what I need from all of you is this. Please respond to this blog with a listing of anything you're allergic to, food wise. Also, please RSVP here. I need to know how many of you ladies to expect! Please also let me know if you'll be bringing little ones with you and how old they are.

Back to those questions you posed earlier. (hehe) So, yes, it's true, they are not registered anywhere. There is a very good reason for this though! As you very well may know, Rachel and Stephen are planning on moving shortly after they are married. This move is going to be a big one too. Most likely, it will be to another state, but it could very well be international. The idea is that they aren't all that excited about the prospect of hauling a lot of "stuff" around when they would be much better off just getting things that they need once they arrive at their new home.

What can you do then, for a gift? Well, cash is always fine, but if you find that to be too impersonal, think about gift cards. Spafinder.com is a great place to go to for something feminine because those gift certificates are accepted at spas and salons nation wide. Another great idea is Amazon.com gift cards. We know they're not going to be filing bankruptcy any time soon, and whatever Rachel and Stephen order, they can have it shipped anywhere in the world. I-tunes is another great idea. Think along those lines and see what fun ideas you can come up with.

Well, that about does it for the first post of the Bridesmaid diary's. More to come later!
